Vehicle Description

The Mercedes 190SL was a more affordable alternative to the extremely exclusive 300SL model, regarded by many as one of the most supercars in the world. It shared its DNA with its more prestigious relative, which helped it gain popularity among owners and collectors. It was powered by a smaller, four-cylinder engine displacing 1.9 litre (hence the name). The car was manufactured between 1955 and 1963 and was replaced by the equally legendary Pagoda.

The car offered at the summer event by Ardor Auctions is a vehicle in exceptionally good technical condition. It was brought to Poland a couple of years ago from the United States. At the time it was painted silver. Its owner, being a seasoned collector, decided to have the car thoroughly restored, including reapplying the original, exceptionally elegant colour combination. The 190 is a perfect example of exquisite craftsmanship and it certainly will retain its current condition for many years to come. When it comes to bodywork, paintwork and mechanical components, the car is a true minter. Fit and finish of details and accessories mounted in the car is spotless and proves that the quality of work is absolutely top notch. It is also worth noting that since restoration was completed, the car was maintained at an experienced classic car workshop and was kept in operating condition throughout the spring and summer seasons. The only non-original parts are Weber carburetors, which are easier to adjust than original parts made by Solex. Such modifications are fully acceptable from a collector’s perspective.

The Mercedes 190 SL is one of the most desirable items on the European collector car market. These cars are highly appreciated as an icon of the whole SL model line. Quality of work performed on this vehicle makes it every bit as glorious as examples found on the most prestigious European classic car events.
